Bedford CART Coordinator received a Bedford 911 call about a yearling 900 lb. bull that fell down a 10 ft. manure pit.

At 3:32 PM the Beford CART Coordinator received a Bedford 911 call about a yearling 900 lb. bull that fell down a 10 ft. manure pit. She had them call Saxton Fire, Friendship and Southern Cove. Both Southern Cove and Saxton helped the Bedford CART last year when a cow fell down a manure pit in New Enterprise. This accident was at 167 Sproul Mountain Road, Roaring Spring, PA still in Bedford county though.

The photos are awesome. The Bedford sling of course was too small. So we used Saxton's sling. However, twice the bull jumped out of the sling while in the pit; so the CART Coordinator had to call the vet to sedate him. Once he was sedated they used the sling from Saxton and make a harness around the back end to pull him up out of the hole with a backhoe. No injury to the bull or crew involved. The last photo shows the bull sleeping it off.
